Elyse was quite simply amazing and the best vendor I worked with for my wedding. From the very beginning, she was very responsive and did everything to help me develop a menu for my wedding. Elyse also understood my budget and worked within my constraints..something I really appreciated as I noticed many vendors would quote one price but end up costing much more. She also went above and beyond on several instances, not only providing me with suggestions on rentals and visiting the venue and helping me with a floor plan but also willing to offer a helping hand with anything I needed further assistance with. Elyse and her team were top notch – my guests raved about the food!! All the ingredients were high quality and you could taste the freshness and love that was put into the preparation. I hired Elyse (Brass Spatula) to prepare an intimate dinner on the occasion of my fiance’s birthday and the evening on which I chose to propose.
From the moment Elyse responded to my Thumbtack request I felt completely comfortable and relieved that at least the dinner would be perfect. What I wasn’t aware of yet, is that Elyse’s magic extends far beyond her passion and expertise for food. She handled the planning and menu selection with such care and ease – even though I was erratic and nervous. A couple hours before I asked her to arrive later than we had agreed and she graciously obliged. On arrival, I felt immediately at ease. Her server, Jennifer, is a true gem. They both intuitively got to work and set about preparing and reassuring me that my set up looked amazing and I started to relax. Jennifer lit over 200 candles for me, helped me figure out my new video camera and would have done more if I had asked. They even unloaded my dishwasher!
The food was to die for! – and perfectly tailored to our unique preferences and diet. The timing was perfect. Between Elyse and Jennifer – we never felt rushed or intruded upon – everything arrived and was removed seamlessly and at the perfect moment. They were extraordinarily accommodating during the actual proposal and so sweetly came out singing with my fiance’s birthday custom birthday cake. We both felt hiring Brass Spatula was serendipitous and a perfect way to begin our marriage journey.
We will definitely hire Brassed Spatula again. Not soon enough and can’t recommend them enough!

Elyse and her crew were fabulous for our wedding reception this past Sunday. The food was superb…..everyone of our friends raved. Many in this group have sophisticated tastes so when they use superlatives in describing the food, one should listen. The three women somehow were unobtrusive even in our very small kitchen. AND they cleaned up after themselves to an unexpected degree. We also appreciate how supportive they were of our unconventional wedding. We have been together for 29 years but only recently have we been permitted to become legally married. The Brass Spatula was more than a business, they felt like family.

After reviewing several bids from caterers who responded to my thumbtack request, I decided to hire Elyse Bolton from Brass Spatula to cater my housewarming party. I chose Elyse because I found her to be very easy to work with – responsive, professional, easy-going and creative. My husband is a picky eater, and Elyse easily accommodated his requests to put condiments on the side and modify a few of our selections. Her menu was interesting and she gave me several options that fit my budget.
I hired her and two additional servers, as my goal was to enjoy my party. The three of them arrived about 2 hours before my guests, and immediately got to work. They had done most of the prep in advance, but did all the cooking at my home so the food was fresh and delicious. Everyone raved about it! Throughout the evening, they refreshed the selections so there was always fresh food available. We kept them busy in the kitchen all night – there’s no way Elyse could have done this party alone. I had hoped and planned that at least one of the other women would be able to tend bar and/or pass out the appetizers, but unfortunately they had little opportunity to leave the kitchen. Even so, the party was a success and they tidied up before leaving.
I’d definitely hire Elyse to cater my next party!
